Favorite IU sports memories

#1  1987 Indiana Basketball National Championship

Two awesome celebrations during the final four that year.  On Saturday, the Hoosiers defeated UNLV and campus erupted in joy.  Spent the evening hanging out of a hatchback driving around campus.  Then on Monday night, the Hoosier defeated Syracuse with a last second shot by Keith Smart.  The rush to get to the fountain was intense.  One of the best nights of my life.

#2  1987 Indiana Football defeats Michigan 14-7

A gloomy overcast day with a light mist did not keep a sellout crowd from cheering on the Hoosiers.  Bo Schembechler complained about the crowd noise.  Billy Resiert blocked a punt that lead to the 14-10 victory.

#3   2007 Bucket Game

IU  defeats that other college up North to win the bucket and qualify for their first bowl game since 1993.  Austin Starr kicked a 50 yard FG for the win.  Massive tailgate before the game, where the Tonsoni boys danced on top of the van singing Toby Keith's "Beer for my Horses".  The boys, ages 12 and 10 were ticked at me for not letting them rush the field.  I know they will bring this up in my Eulogy.

#4 1985 Indiana football ends losing streak of 16 games

IU defeats Louisville 41-28 and we storm the field.  The goalposts come down and 5 of my buddies grab an upright and start out of the stadium.  We run threw the tailgate lots to the cheers of the fans, we get half way back to Wright Quad and then are stopped by the police.  I am almost arrested after my first college football game.  One guy did make it to our dorm with the goalpost pad which we celebrated with all night.

#5  2011 December 10th,,, The Wat Shot

This is the top event that I was not in attendance for.  I was coaching a basketball game and was watching the game on gametracker on my phone.  Right before warmups, the shot went in.  I sprinted out of the locker room onto the court like I was playing the game myself.

More to Come!!!
