About Me

My name is Brian Tonsoni.  I graduated from Indiana University in 1989 with a B.S. in Business and also in 1994 with a B.S. in Education.  In between my degrees, I worked as an assistant branch manager/loan office for Bank One, Indianapolis.  In 1992, I married my wife Amy and went back to school to become a teacher.

Together with Amy, I have two awesome young boys named Brandon and Brent.  Brandon is in the class of 2018 at Indiana University. My youngest son, Brent, is in the class of 2016 at Rossville High School in Rossville, IN.

Our family resides in Delphi, Indiana and both Amy and I teach at Delphi Community Schools.  My wife is the department chair for the English Department and I am the department chair for the Social Studies Department.

As well as teaching, I have coached boys basketball for  17 years.  Seven years as an assistant coach and 10 years as the head coach.  I have spent time as an assistant at Lebanon HS, Wabash HS, Manchester HS and Rossville HS.  I have been the head coach of two programs, Northfield and Delphi for a combined 10 years.  The highlight of my career was leading the 2003 Northfield Norsemen to a sectional and regional title.  The countless relationships with players is even a bigger highlight.

As a tailgater, I must give credit to Tim Shrewsbury of Lousiville for showing me how to set up an awesome tailgate.  He also is the master of the breakfast burrito.  I have known Tim for over 20 years and consider him to be a huge part of our family.  The Tonsoni's need little excuse to tailgate.  We love to have fun, play some bags(cornhole), and watch sports.  We especially love the Purple Lot outside Memorial Stadium and Bart Kaufman Stadium in Bloomington.

This blog is to share some of the thoughts that might be discussed at the tailgate.  This blog will emphasize more positives than negatives.  It will discuss a lot of Indiana University sports but also sports in general.

Please check out the additional pages on sports memories, books, movies and quotes... Also for any coaches out there I will add some coaching philosphy and ideas over time.

Hope you enjoy.  Let me know what you think about the blog.
